Selection of parameters in nanosecond pulsed wave laser micro-welding

Abstract The digital control of the latest nanosecond pulsed wave (PW) fibre lasers allows very high flexibility in controlling application total energy to a workpiece, which brings several advantages joining process. By choosing different pulse shapes spatial profiles, it is possible apply low per with precision and accuracy resulting lower heat input. Since each insufficient generate melting, these operate at repetition frequencies near continuous (CW) regime. Nevertheless, peak powers PW are much higher than CW. In this research, effect power, energy, width, frequency duty cycle has been studied. experimental work was conducted bead on plate austenitic stainless steel investigate laser weld geometry, i.e. depth penetration width. An empirical model, previously established for CW mode, enables achievement particular independent beam diameter, redesigned tested mode. “pulse power factor model” user select profile that meets certain quality productivity requirements system. It shown identical but metal can be obtained specific diameter range system parameters by keeping constant trade-off between interaction time.
